This sterling silver bracelet has a creel charm that is entirely made by hand, and contains a real Cowrie shell collected from an Orkney beach. As each charm is made to fit each shell there are slight variations to the size. Can be made with your own shell.
Standard length is 19 cm but please specify at checkout if different length is required.
In Orkney, Cowries are called Grotie Buckies and are said to bring luck to the bearer. It’s a great sport trying to spot these tiny shells on the shoreline and sometimes it can get quite competitive to see who can collect the most.
There are two spieces of Cowries found in Orkney. Northern Cowrie, which has no markings and the slightly larger European Cowrie which have 3 spots on their backs.
