The entire process from sheep to scarf is conducted on my Shetland croft. Our own flock of Shetland sheep are hand sheared, the fleece is then washed and space dyed in harmonious colourways. Once dry the fleece is colour blended using my drum carder before being spun on my spinning wheel. I then weave the resulting yarn on a rigid heddle loom to create the finished scarf.

Inspiration
My flock of sheep have fantastic fleece and in a way I feel its honouring them to take their ‘cut offs’ and make something useful and beautiful. I’ve been knitting since I was a child, but its only since I began keeping sheep that my real adventures with fleece began. Now I dye, card, spin, weave, felt, crochet, oh and knit of course.
