This book, edited by Donald E. Meek and Rachel J. Meek, tells the story of a remarkable Baptist preacher, Dugald Sinclair (1770-1870), who was a native of Mid Argyll, and became the first minister of Lochgilphead Baptist Church, after it had moved from Bellanoch in 1815. Sinclair wrote fascinating journals (1810-15) which are descriptive masterpieces, giving details of his preaching tours in the West Highlands and Inner Hebrides, his methods, modes of travel, the people he met, etc. He emigrated to Lobo, Ontario, in 1831.

Travelling through parts of the mainland West Highlands and extensively in the Inner Hebrides, Sinclair wrote fascinating journals (1810-15) which are descriptive masterpieces, giving details of his preaching tours, his methods, modes of travel, the people he met, etc. In 1831, he emigrated to Lobo, Ontario, where he continued to preach until he was over 90. His life weaves together several major themes from this period, among them the growth of evangelicalism in the West Highlands, and the tide of early nineteenth-century emigration from Argyll. This is the first full study of an itinerant preacher of this kind operating chiefly in the Highlands and Islands.
