Inspiration for this design came one night when my daughter asked me to tell her a bed time story. Earlier that day we had been down at da hoab (exposed seabed) which is one of my favourite places in Whalsay. I told her about how her Auld Da (my dad) used to take me there for walks when I was peerie (small) but in da summer we had to avoid the tirricks (artic terns) nesting areas as they love to dive bomb your head, so Da used to take wild flowers usually dockens or hogweed and wave above his head for the diving tirricks to attack instead of trying to peck the top of his head.
Each mug comes with a gift tag featuring the story, keeping memories alive!
