This was a painting from a wonderful photograph by Richard Ashbee (with permission) showing Scalloway harbour in a wild day following one of the major gales. Painted carefully in great detail then stumbled over with a semi dry brush to get the effect of sea-spray. Loved painting this iconic scene in a different way as I live in Burra and often pass by this harbour but it’s rarely so choppy.
