As well as its associations to spirituality, power, royalty and luxury, the colour purple is also associated with Scotland. It appears in our national symbol—the thistle—and colours our hillsides as heather. Here I wanted the design to represent the twist of briars and wild berried, and chose to showcase purple amethyst, finished with a gold plated celtic knotwork bead. Amethyst, or purple quartz, is a gemstone associated with balance and protection.

Drop length 2.5cm on gold plated ear wires. Designed and created in the Isle of Skye, these come gift boxed, along with information about the gemstone.

Indigo Berry

Hi there, my name is Michelle Seviour— the creative force behind Indigo Berry. The beautiful Isle of Skye in the Scottish Highlands has been my home since 1990. My island home overlooks the Loch Harport, with the Cuillins in the distance, so I am literally surrounded by inspiration—from the landscape, history and the culture of Skye. I design and create one of a kind jewellery using a range of materials including silver, gemstones and vintage buttons. A creative idea might start with a glance out of the window at the changing colours in the loch, or perhaps draw on a memory of a Pre-Raphaelite painting from my love of Art. Each of my silver pieces are hallmarked at Edinburgh Assay Office. Got something special in mind? I love to work with you to bring your ideas to life, creating bespoke pieces of jewellery by commission .
