Bumblebee Jasper and Citrine Earrings, Gold Plated, Drop Earrings
Product of: Isle of Skye
Across the loch where I live in Skye is a lighthouse – its not manned but it sends its warning light across the loch at regular intervals. Its pretty mesmerizing and I was inspired to design these earrings as a tribute. Soft yellow citrine with a halo of wire and columns of bumblebee jasper representing the light across the loch.
Spoiler alert- bumblebee jasper with its amazing combination of yellows, oranges and moody greys, is not jasper at all! It is actually mined from the side of a volcano in Indonesia and is a relative newcomer to the gemstone scene having been first discovered in Java during the 1990s. It is known there as ‘batu badar belerang‘ which roughly translates to ‘coal becoming sulphur’. And indeed those amazing colours do come from its sulphur and arsenic content—although its name of course refers more to its resemblance to the colour of bees. Citrine is a member of the quartz family. Novembers birthstone, citrine is thought to be a healing stone and it is often referred to as ‘the stone of happiness’ or ‘the merchants stone ‘ since it is believed that citrine will bring you money/wealth or luck in financial transactions
Finished with champagne gold coloured silver plated wire and gold plated ear wires. Drop length 5cm. These come to you on a signature Indigo Berry earring card wrapped in tissue in a pretty organza bag, along with information about the gemstone and tips on caring for your gemstone jewellery.

Indigo Berry
Hi there, my name is Michelle Seviour— the creative force behind Indigo Berry. The beautiful Isle of Skye in the Scottish Highlands has been my home since 1990. My island home overlooks the Loch Harport, with the Cuillins in the distance, so I am literally surrounded by inspiration—from the landscape, history and the culture of Skye. I design and create one of a kind jewellery using a range of materials including silver, gemstones and vintage buttons. A creative idea might start with a glance out of the window at the changing colours in the loch, or perhaps draw on a memory of a Pre-Raphaelite painting from my love of Art. Each of my silver pieces are hallmarked at Edinburgh Assay Office. Got something special in mind? I love to work with you to bring your ideas to life, creating bespoke pieces of jewellery by commission .
