Killer whale (Orca) original watercolour painting – John Coe
Product of: Isle of Mull
Original mounted (unframed) watercolour painting of a killer whale (orca), John Coe.
Outer mount size: 20cm x 25.5cm
Inner mount size: 14cm x 19cm
The painting is of a killer whale bull, John Coe, from the West Coast Community of killer whales, who are regularly sighted in and around the Hebrides. The West Coast Community – recorded only in UK and Irish waters – can be distinguished from other groups of killer whales seen around Scotland by their unusual sloping eye patch and larger size. Each individual in the group is recognisable by the unique shape of their dorsal fin as well as the shape and coloration of their saddle patch. The Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust (HWDT) have been collating photographs and sightings of the West Coast Community since 1992.
10% of the sale will be donated to the Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust.
Information on the West Coast Community killer whales can be found on the Hebridean Whale and Dolphin website: https://hwdt.org/west-coast-community-catalogue
