David has lived and worked in Iona and the surrounding seas for over 20 years, with his wife Louise and their three boys.
Working in multiple jobs including island guide; photographer, occasional plumber/carpenter and firefighter, his creative inspiration for his paintings and photography comes from the constantly changing seasons, light and moods of the sea.
Daily walking, running and some wild swimming(!) in all the corners of Iona gives a wide perspective of the island environment, which he captures in his paintings and photography.
His work depicts the water, rocks and Hebridean skies of Scotlands west coast-islands. Working in photography, and more recently in watercolour and acrylics, his experiences of the dramatic weather and the power of the sea contrasting with the calmness of an island summers day is reflected in his paintings and photographs.
