Whisky Boat
Product of: Isle of Arran
A boat-shaped tea light holder carved from an oak whisky barrel stave, made in the Isle of Arran by Honest Coffins. Each one is a little different.
This is a tea light holder shaped like a small boat, carved from a single oak stave from a whisky barrel. The natural curve of the stave becomes the curve of the hull, so it sits with a gentle rock to it.
It is made by the woodworker behind Honest Coffins, who works in the Isle of Arran and often uses oak from Arran’s whisky barrels. Because every stave is different, each Whisky Boat varies a little in grain, colour and marking, so the one you receive is its own thing.
It holds a standard tea light in the hollow on top. The maker had a candlelit bath and a quiet dram in mind when they named it, and it is equally happy on a windowsill, a mantel or a dinner table.
A good small gift for a whisky lover, and a nice way to see barrel oak given a second life.

I make various items in wood. Currently most of my signs are on oak from Arran whisky barrels. Things like the ashes caskets are made using timber grown in Arran and milled by a friend who lives just up the road. The products will vary slightly according to the piece of wood used. Feel free to contact me with suggestions, especially with Scottish and Gaelic sayings. I’ve just started learning Gaelic so please provide a translation.
Virtually all of the packaging I use is recycled.
