A linocut print of choughs in flight against swirling skies and cliffs, their red beaks hand-coloured.

A linocut print of six choughs riding the wind, their black wings cut against a sky and cliff worked in dense swirling lines. The red beaks and legs are hand-coloured.

By Jane Taylor, an artist and print maker in the Isle of Islay, whose linocuts focus on the wildlife and weather of the island.

Choughs are one of Islay’s signature birds – red-billed, acrobatic, often seen along the west coast cliffs at Machir and beyond. The composition is busy with movement: the lines of the rock and sky swirl while the birds turn in and out of them. Image size 20cm x 30cm.

A good gift for a birder, or for anyone who has watched choughs at Machir.

From the Isle of Islay · Linocut with hand colour · 300gsm white paper · Image size 20cm x 30cm · A3 or A4
