Handwoven Merino Scarf or Wrap in Christmassy Red and Green
Product of: Orkney Islands
A handwoven 100% merino scarf or wrap in a red and dark green diamond weave, made on a table loom in Orkney by AJ of Handmade in Hope.
1 in stock
This is a generous handwoven scarf, wide enough to wear as a wrap across the shoulders. It is woven in 100% merino wool in a small diamond pattern, with deep red and dark green threading through each other and a row of red fringes at each end.
It is made by AJ of Handmade in Hope, who weaves in Hope in Orkney on one of two table looms, one in the sunroom and one in the attic. Each piece is woven by hand, a row at a time, so every scarf takes real time and care.
Merino is soft against the neck and warm without much weight, which makes this comfortable to wear all day. The red and dark green read as properly festive, so it works well as a Christmas gift, and the colours carry happily through the rest of winter.
Measures 62 inches by 14½ inches, not counting the fringes.
Made in Hope, Orkney · 100% merino wool · 62″ x 14½” excluding fringes · Handwoven on a table loom

Handmade In Hope
Welcome to Handmade in Hope. I’m AJ, part-time psychotherapist and part-time hand-weaver, and all my products are hand-made on one of my two table looms, one in the sunroom in my garden, and one (traditionally for cottage industries!) in the attic.
Everything I sell is unique, a one-off, and I hope will please with both its looks and its quality. Hand-made products are slightly irregular, and will not be as “perfect” as a machine-made equivalent; but if you’re looking at my store, you likely know that already! I also recommend only hand-washing hand-woven clothing items.
Everything listed in the store here is available and ready to ship. I do also work to commission, so if you see something you like on my website, www.handmadeinhope.co.uk, that isn’t available here, please get in touch and I may be able to make you something to order. (For commissions, please assume a lead time of approx. 1 month, to allow me to plan and complete the work; though if I can do it sooner, I will).
Please note that shipping from the islands is always potentially subject to weather-related delays, and I cannot guarantee delivery by a particular date. I will use a tracked service, usually Royal Mail, and provide tracking details for you to monitor your shipment.
I hope you enjoy browsing!
