Snowy Woodland

£27.00

Product of: Isle of Harris

Ships to: Canada, New Zealand, Australia

It’s so windy in Harris that there aren’t many trees, though there is a lovely stretch of pine woodland at Aline as you head up the road into Lewis. This snowy woodland scene is made with iridescent green glass to make the trees shimmer and some snow has been sprinkled around.
All my glass items are made by hand and for this piece the trees, snow and occasioinal snowflake have been fired onto a sheet of glass. The piece has then been fired again over a mould to create the wave shape that enables the scene to stand upright. It works well as a candle screen or window decoration.
The wave measures 25cm long and 7cm high.

Harris Glass Studio

I started making fused glass as a hobby with a tiny kiln in the kitchen that was bought as a Christmas present. I fell in love with the process of designing and making glass, experimenting with lots of different ideas. After listing a few things on Etsy I finally invested in a bigger kiln and installed it in a shed at the end of the garden at our house in the Cotswolds.
Things have grown from there and after visiting the Isle of Harris many times over the years we finally took the plunge and bought a house here. My studio is in Cluer, a small village in the bays of Harris and I count my blessings that the picture is the view from my studio window!
I like to experiment with new designs and techniques, and love the excitement of opening the kiln each morning and seeing what transformation has taken place! When not in the workshop I can be found out running with my dog, Scout or coaching gymnastics.
